Robby Baier

About Robby Baier
At 39, Robby has been making and recording music for over 33 years. Here are some of the highlights of his musical existence:

First gig at age 6, a box full of cassette tapes is proof of his pre teen writing and recording endeavor.
A self taught musician and not interested in reading music, Robby gets an F in music in middle school.
At age 10 Robby and his buddy Nicolai Lieven are a folk duo and start playing out.
At 15 they win an Ovation scholarship and go to guitar summer workshop in CT.
At 18 They form "Four out of Five Dentists" in Berlin Germany, get signed by Jim Rakete (manager Nina Hagen, Nena...) and Siggi Loch (X-President of WEA) to their new label ACT.
They change their name to "Pearls At Swine", tour the states and Canada while Metrobeat readers back in Berlin vote them best rock band in Berlin. They win 10,000 Marks tour support.
They sign with Atlantic records that was then not signed by Atlantic after all. They were really bummed that day, got drunk and slept in the woods.
Back in the States with new lineup they sign with BMG Ariola in Munich and record their 4th release "Pearls at Swine", produced by Robert Ponger (Falco) in Vienna.
Rolling Stone calls them the "German Black Crows". They tour Germany, get into all the major music rags and then get dropped from the label... Robby and Nicolai split up and call it quits.
Now its 1997 and Robby has moved back to the states and launches Soultube Music. His first solo record is "Soultube" and wins him best pop rock song at the 2002 independent music awards.
He produces Meg Hutchinson's "Against The Gray" in his studio in Richmond MA and launches the band Melodrome with Pearls at Swine bassist Jesko Stahl.
Melodrome also wins best pop rock song at the independent music awards (2004).
Songs for Film is making headway and is placing songs in Film and TV.
Robby is music supervisor for "Dinner and a Movie" by Lisa Kors.
He wins 2nd place in the international songwriting competition for Melodrome's "Love Replaces Love".
Robby and Melodrome write music for the 2004 Oscar nominated film "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson.
Soultube Music places 2 Melodrome songs in national TV Beer commercials, Miller and Coors.
Melodrome is now producing their 4th release and Robby is working on his second solo project.
